Module Description
This course covers specific topics in the field of fault monitoring and maintenance in renewable energy systems. The first section of the course provides a general introduction to the importance of maintenance, its types and applications, and its relationship to economic costs. We then move on to assessing and managing risks to protect human and material resources, thus reducing production costs and increasing competitiveness. We then move on to maintaining components of renewable energy systems, with a focus on solar and wind energy systems.
Objectives and Learning Outcomes
- Provide students with basic principles and background for converters applied in renewable energy systems.
- Equip students with necessary knowledge to deal with renewable energy converters in term of sizing, troubleshooting, fault detection and rectification.
- Provide students with the necessary knowledge related to maintenance types, procedures and applied technologies.
- Enable student to replace elements, calibration and final check of maintained device or system.
- Conducting the needed simulation using various simulation tools such as MATLAB, PSIM, LabVIEW, etc.
