Module Description
This module examines the decarbonisation of industries that are challenging to abate, such as steel, cement, and chemicals, which are responsible for a considerable amount of carbon emissions. The reduction of their carbon footprint could be achieved through the implementation of innovative thermochemical processes, including carbon capture, utilisation, and storage (CCUS), green hydrogen, and electrification. By employing advanced technologies and sustainable energy sources, these industries can affect a transition towards a low-carbon future.
Learning Outcomes
- Basic knowledge on conventional steel and glass production, carbon capture technologies by absorption, thermochemical processing, fuels replacement with low-carbon solutions.
